Morning Fare
If you are staying in a motel, you might as well eat their free breakfast, unless you want a treat. Similarly, if you are camping, you might as well eat your own food. Otherwise if you want a treat that is also an experience here's what we suggest.
- Stockyard Cafe—The most eclectic and truly old-fashioned breakfasting experience in Montana. Not for those with a low tolerance for lack of decorum. You even have to call ahead to see if and when they are open. 406-586-9728. You can find it on facebook by searching for Stockyard Cafe Bozeman.
- Western Cafe—Authentic 1940s diner. Great breakfasts and lunches. Dinner is not served.
There are many other good breakfast joints in Bozeman, but they are similar to what you would find in most cities of any size. These include the downtown, granola, yuppie, but yummy Nova, Main Street Over Easy, and Cat Eye, Storm Castle Cafe on Lincoln Street near the University, and the more innovative and casual Clark's Fork on N 19th, named after the Lewis and Clark expedition that traveled through this country in the early 1800s; this restaurant has posters with excerpts from the journals of the expedition that detail what the party feasted on along the way. They have fantastic huge, fresh rolls from a variety of recipes, good coffee, and unique menu options. For other possibilities, just ask around, ask us or do a Web search. You'll get good recommendations.
